Understand the payment route
Your campaign budget might be held in crypto, while your advertising account expects a conventional payment method. A crypto-funded virtual card can connect those two workflows: you fund a balance, allocate money to a card and use its details for an eligible card payment. The advertising platform receives a card payment, rather than a transfer from your crypto wallet.
That describes the route, not a guarantee of acceptance. The useful question is whether the specific card and your billing setup are compatible. Establish that before moving your campaign budget. A network logo alone does not answer it.
Start with your billing settings
Open your Google Ads billing settings and check the account country, currency and payment setting. Google’s available payment methods vary by setup. Its guidance states that Google does not accept prepaid cards for postpay, the setting where Google charges you after your ads run. Whether a card counts as prepaid is decided by how its issuer registered the card range, not by whether the card is virtual. After adding a card, check in the Billing settings which payment setting it was accepted for before you rely on automatic charges.
Keep this check specific: the billing country, currency and intended payment setting are more useful than asking whether a provider “works with Google.” Record the answer alongside the card’s applicable usage restrictions, so the next person managing the campaign can see the same information.
Prepare the balance you can actually spend
Treat the crypto transfer and the card balance as separate steps. Follow the deposit instructions for the selected asset and network, review the quoted conversion terms, and check any timing conditions before sending. Then confirm that the deposit has been credited and that the intended amount is available on the card.
Build your budget from the amount that actually lands on the card. With Azura, the deposit fee is added on top of your payment, so the USD credit you request arrives in full; the top-up fee then comes off when you move money onto a card, and the card is created for a separate one-time fee. Other providers deduct differently. If the campaign needs a particular usable balance, work backwards from it and keep the funding receipt and the card allocation together so the difference is easy to reconcile later.
Add the card and complete verification
Follow Google’s current card setup instructions in the Billing area. Use accurate payment details and set the card as the primary payment method; a card that is added but not assigned is not used. Expect a small pre-authorization hold when the card is added; it drops off by itself. Whether a 3-D Secure step follows depends on the card: Azura cards confirm 3-D Secure automatically on the issuer side, so no code arrives and nothing is needed from you; with other cards, be ready to complete the issuer’s authentication.
Payment verification is a separate consideration. Google may ask for a code associated with a temporary charge or for supporting documents as part of its payment verification process. The code is the last six digits of a small temporary charge in the card’s transaction history, so make sure the person running the account can see that history. A card provider’s signup requirements do not replace Google’s own checks.
Plan around the next charge
Google’s postpay guidance explains that charges occur when the payment threshold is reached or on the first day of the month. A fast-spending account can be charged more than once in a month, and the charge can slightly exceed the threshold. Review the current threshold in your account rather than treating your daily campaign budget as the next bill.
Choose a balance buffer based on the upcoming charge and the time you need to replenish it. Assign someone to check the billing summary when spend increases. A scheduled funding review is easier to manage than discovering a shortfall during a campaign.
Before you put budget behind it
- Confirm that the card type fits the account’s payment setting.
- Check the spendable card balance after all applicable funding costs.
- Know where to find authentication requests and payment records.
- Review the next billing threshold and who will monitor it.
